Today was odd. I had seemingly an abundance of free time, and I was able to do things I wanted to do. What a luxury. Though, because of that luxury, I have had a dull day. A lot of working on homework, watching TV, playing a video game, fixing a sewing machine, and driving around.
In the place of any interesting or meaningful stories, I would like to share two things I have learned and found interesting.
The AP style guide (the standard for mass media writing) omits the Oxford comma. That's so odd to me. The entire point of AP style is to make writing clear and simple for everyone to understand. Why then would it exclude a harmless comma clarifying the last of a list? Just does not compute to me.
Dialogism is the introduction of opposing viewpoints or questions within a text. It mirrors a dialogue and allows the author to address possible questions, giving the writing more credibility. I like dialogism. Good stuff.
Anyhoo, that's all for today. I am now going to relish in my free time.
Goodnight all,
Calvin Landreth
