I woke up restless. The day has been restless. My spirit and mind have been elsewhere, chasing butterflies and brains.
I've been a zombie
I need to feast on brains.
I need to replace the one I lost
I incubated uneasily in a bed
That just wasn’t right
Tossing and turning,
until my brain got shaken out
I woke in a daze
My body moved without thought
Putting my morning routine,
The stings pulling each limb taught.
I stumbled through the cold
On a path I've walked plenty before
Climbed the stairs that led to
My eyes were half closed and blurry
Every step and every strain
things were popping off of me
I made it to the door that starts my day
And I tried to convince everyone I was human
Rest easy,
Calvin Landreth
