Good evening.
Do you ever get horrified at life? Do you ever read a headline or hear a piece of news that jolts your brain out of your body and into space so you can look back down at the world from a new, disturbing perspective?
I am all about positivity and optimism, and I don't want to discredit all the good.
But man, I feel like it's becoming harder and harder not to be sick to your stomach.
And maybe thats apart of growing up. Maybe it's not that there is more horror, but I can now just pick up on it. "I sometimes wonder if that's why humans are starting to have a growing sense of doom. You hear about this? I forgot where I read it, probably AP News, but people are reporting more and more constant feelings of doom. And on one hand, it's easy to see why. On the other hand, it's easy to see why we think we see why.
Phones and computers are magical devices that give us the world. And being able to see the world also allows us to see its horrors. There is a part of me that wonders if people used to be happier because we as a whole were less worldly and more ignorant. Human spheres of knowledge have grown from our neighborhoods to our towns, to our cities, to our states, to our countries, and now, more or less, the world. And it sure is a big world that holds so much good and bad. That leads me to think that's a flaw in humans, though. For we can hold an infinite amount of good and never be full, but a limited amount of bad before we shatter. Maybe not the best neurobiology for sentient life forms.
I wish I had a solution to save from this somber tone. But alack, I do not.
Keep your head up, though.
It's the least we can do.
Goodnight,
Calvin Landreth
